Electric, hybrid & petrol car cost calculator

Compare monthly finance and fuel & electricty costs across the DS range using our new comparison tool

When you're looking for a new car we know it can be hard to know where to begin. With so many options available from fully electric and hybrid vs petrol and diesel, DS Automobiles have created a new comparison tool to help you compare the different models, engines and running costs associated with each car. Discover today how affordable your new car could be!
What is a comparison tool?

The official name for this tool is a TCO which stands for Total Cost of Ownership. This includes all the expenses associated with owning and operating a new car or van over a certain period of time. For example the purchase price of the vehicle, maintenance costs, or fuel, to name a few.

How do I use the comparison tool?

Simply select your model of interest from the full DS range and then your preferred trim and engine type. You will then be able to add a second model to compare – it could be an electric vs hybrid, electric vs petrol or two petrol engines. From here you can view the affordability, tech specs and key features of each car. You can even add in your own additional costs – such as insurance – to gain an even more accurate calculation of overall expenses.

How can this comparison tool help me decide which DS is right for me?

We want to provide an overall picture of the running costs of owning a car, rather than just the selling price. We are hoping it can help you make a more informed decision about which car is the best value for your budget, especially when deciding between petrol, hybrid or electric cars.

What are some ways to reduce costs on a new car?

You can reduce costs by choosing an electric model which is more fuel efficient and has lower running costs. Fully electric cars don’t produce any exhaust emissions, so you currently do not have to pay road tax which will also save you money.

Ensuring you compare insurance rates from various providers, and staying up to date on regular car maintenance can also help to keep the running costs down.

Are electric cars cheaper to run?

Because of the reduced dependency on traditional fuel, electric motorists will find themselves journeying to the petrol station less – or in the case of BEVs, perhaps not at all. The main day-to-day savings when running an EV compared to a petrol or diesel car will come when topping up. Considering the varying rates of electricity and fuel around the UK and over time, the saving could be even larger. Of course, there are also maintenance costs to consider, but with fewer moving parts than combustion-engined vehicles, EVs can also offer savings in this area. EV batteries can be quite expensive to repair outside a warranty, but all DS electric cars are guaranteed 70% battery capacity for 100,000 miles or eight years.
